A memory that never had a proper goodbye
The first pet I remember was a dog from my childhood.
I was a restless kid, always finding trouble. One day I fell into water, and he was the one who pulled me back. I did not understand it as a grand thing then. He was just there, as family often is: close, watchful, and easy to take for granted.
Years later, I left home for school. During that time, he became very sick. I was told he was in pain, but he did not cry out. He went off to a quiet place where no one saw him, and that was where his life ended. I was at an age when everything seemed urgent: exams, school, the next step forward. I never saw him one last time.
That unfinished goodbye is part of why Samesin exists.
